Check out in this article nine important web development and IT trends you should keep an eye on in 2022. 😉

Well, it’s not news to anyone that new trends are always emerging for the development market and IT in general.

However, what we can observe is that, after two long consecutive years of the pandemic, a true technological “boom” has taken place. What we see today is one of the greatest advances in technology ever recorded in history!

The fact is that the coronavirus pandemic has driven a true digital transformation around the world. Thousands of companies migrated to the internet and in addition, thousands of people got even closer to the digital universe, because of this, growth rates, which were usually only recorded at intervals of years, happened in a matter of months!

Well, with this article we intend to bring some reflections on the possible trends that should strengthen throughout the year 2022.

1 – Low code on the rise!

2022 brought even more to the fore the need to gain agility in the development process.

A low-code tool manages to simplify the entire development process in general, through minimal coding it is possible to skip steps that require a lot of time in the development process itself, such as flowcharts and other actions related to the creation of software.

In view of this need for agility and reduction of the time spent in development processes, this model has become very strong and will continue to be a great bet for the coming years. Mainly due to time-saving factors and process simplification, these factors manage to remedy a major current problem, the absence of professionals with a high level of experience, in the sense that the simplification of processes reduces the dependence of these professionals on the team.

In addition to the time-saving factor, the cost reduction also makes this model very attractive, especially for startups, after all, they managed to deliver complete solutions efficiently, quickly, and cheaply.

This scenario constitutes a very positive growth projection of low-code development platforms, according to GlobeNewswire, the global low-code market is expected to exceed the $187 billion mark by 2030! That’s right, and this value is equivalent to a growth of 31.1%.

2 – PWA will gain even more strength

Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) have already been a much-discussed topic in previous years and the trend is that it will gain even more strength in 2022.

PWAs, in short, are websites that can offer an application experience to the user, that is, they combine the practicality of accessing a website with the experience and functionality of a native application.

If we stop to think about it, we can identify several advantages in this model: a lower number of bugs, more free storage on your mobile, and the need for constant updates, among others. Also, manufacturers naturally still come out with a significant profit as software development becomes much faster and cheaper overall.

It is worth mentioning that a native application tends to have maximum performance, while in PWA there are certain limitations because it is a hybrid environment. However, creating a PWA requires much less bureaucracy and effort than a native one, so it is up to the company to analyze the best option for its reality.

The ultimate goal of a PWA is to bring agility and solve the most common features of your application in a simple and effective way.

If we are to analyze the main advantages that PWA brings, they would stand out: gain in engagement by allowing the sending of notifications; practicality of access as the user does not need to download, update, accept the famous terms of use or face dozens of permissions and bureaucracy,  agility, accessibility, and responsiveness.

3 – You can’t stay out of the cloud!

When we talk about cloud technology today, several discussions on the subject that have been going on for some years automatically come to mind.

The point is that with this COVID-19 pandemic, we have identified a high acceleration of the modernization processes of companies and the adoption of cloud systems turned out to be an indispensable necessity.

I’m sure you have been following the change in the way companies have been working in the last 2 years, many preferred to continue adopting the home office or the regime known as hybrid, and in view of this work format, there was a need to centralize information and coordinate the team processes.

Added to this change in work logistics, systems understood as legacy has shown themselves to be increasingly vulnerable to breaches and attacks, an issue that has increased many in recent years. So in addition to the modernization of processes in general, cloud technologies came to increase security.

This whole scenario builds a very significant growth projection, according to Cloudwards, the growth estimate for the cloud computing market is $832.1 billion in 2025.

4 – Security in focus

Another topic that has remained high in recent months has been the need to modernize and diversify strategies to increase cybersecurity.

This is a matter of logic, if we stop to think about how much technologies have been growing and modernizing, the need for better security strategies end up being accompanied.

According to a study by Deep Instinct, there is a strong expectation that hacking techniques will evolve a lot in the coming years, some methods such as ransomware had a 435% increase in the year 2020 alone, that’s what you read! So investment in security modernization is a latent need, given that traditional methods may no longer be enough to guarantee total cyber security and stability for companies.

5 – Metaverse

Being one of the most talked-about subjects in recent months, the metaverse is a technology that seems to grow a lot in the coming years. If we are to conceptualize, the term refers to an entire virtual universe that involves various elements such as social media, virtual reality, games, and cryptocurrencies.

Through digital avatars, people will be able to interact with an entire virtual world in a totally realistic and innovative way. Some say the metaverse is the future of the internet, and many experts say it has the potential to completely change the way users interact, communicate and shop online.

And there are already a lot of people eyeing this, Facebook for example has already announced an investment of around US$ 50 million in this type of technology.

6 –  The artificial intelligence revolution

Well, the development of AI (Artificial Intelligence) is no longer new to anyone, however, the forecast is that it will gain much more space in 2022.

Talking about AI means thinking about many things because within it there are dozens of other trends that continue to evolve and gain space in everyday life in the most diverse areas where they can be applied. Whether in marketing, engineering, education, software development, or any other area, AI arrives to automate processes, making everything more productive, practical, modern, and profitable.

In the last 2 years, we can highlight the advancement of AI in the health sector during the pandemic. What we saw was a search for modernization and adaptation of processes to the new reality, according to the necessary health trends. The search for technology that contributes to this segment was very strong and continues to grow this year.

Markets and Markets releases a forecast that the AI market will increase globally from $58.3 billion in 2021 to $309.6 billion in 2026.

7 – Promote the best possible user experience

The pandemic has transformed user behavior a lot. People today tend to spend a lot more time on the internet and the virtual search for services and products should have a huge increase in recent years.

Faced with these scenarios, companies found themselves in the need to promote the best possible experience for the user, the focus on UX – User Experience is a trend that has been increasingly strengthened and will continue to increase in the coming years.

Users have become much more demanding, and with that, the need to modernize layouts, simplify processes and modernize interactions has become increasingly greater.

8 – IoT – Internet of Things increasingly present

We could not fail to mention the IoT, it is a trend that has always appeared in recent articles and continues to gain an increasing space in the market, especially now with the arrival of 5G.

Several technology companies have modernized their products and services by adding new features and interactions to their devices – TV, refrigerator, microwave, stove, light, among many others.

In addition to this scenario, we must also highlight the IoB – Internet of Behavior, which in addition to collecting information, manages to make a detailed analysis of users’ behavior through their interactions with devices.

9 – Blockchain and NFT

Blockchain also continues to get stronger. In short, it is a system that makes it possible to track sending and receiving information over the internet. As the name suggests, they are pieces of code generated online that carry information linked to each other, like large blocks that form a kind of chain. As if it were a large centralized database.

In recent years, it has gained prominence especially for enabling the transaction of famous cryptocurrencies.

Faced with this scenario, another issue emerged that has been one of the most talked-about today, the NFT “non-fungible token” (or non-fungible token). It has been difficult for many people to conceptualize and understand what the NFT would actually be, let’s make a quick reflection: if we think of something digital that has no monetary value properly, but for some reason has come to have a figure associated with it, that it’s an NFT.

But what do they have to do with it? Currently, many demands on NFT have used the blockchain technology behind cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum itself. In other words, there is an expectation to unite the two technologies to further strengthen this new digital scenario.
