This article ( SEO – Reaching the Top of Search Engine Ranking Results) aims to present 5 Fundamental Tips on how to get your website to the top. Check it out!

The most assertive way to get visits on the web is through a good rankings in the search engines. Research by Google, the dominant search engine, reveals that 80% of search engine users click on organic search, while only 20% choose ads.

Organic Search results are the “unpaid” natural results of a search engine such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

To be among the first or, even better, we use a set development practices known by the acronym SEO, Search Engine Optimization. Its practices are intended to facilitate the understanding of site content by the browser rendering engine.

The 5 Fundamental SEO Tips are:

1° – Meta tag: “title tag”:

The meta title tag is located inside the site “head” tag, it is responsible for loading a title to the content of the searched page. This title will also be displayed as a tab label.

It is important that every page of your site / blog has a unique title for better understanding of search engines.

Having the search term that will lead to your website / blog in your “title” is a differential to be explored, as this can guarantee your place in the first place. Then you need carefully elaborate it: your title should be 77 characters maximum (assuming Google may cut your title before 77 depending on the characters used), but Google searches show that 50 characters are sufficient for a perfect title.

2° – Meta Description Tag

This meta tag is also inside the “head” and carries with it a general description of your site page. Each page should have the content of this single meta tag as well, such as “title”, and its size is limited to 160 characters. If the 160 character limit is exceeded, Google will cut off your description to 153 characters because of the space for the suspension points.
It is worth remembering that the content of this tag is exposed below the content of the “title” tag in the search result and it is one of the main attractions to the site, so we must use the call-to-action feature , Such as “access now”, “see now”) to maximize clicks.

An important tip is also to repeat the words of the Meta title tag in the Meta Description Tag for a better “understanding” of your page by the search engines.

3 – Title tags H1, H2, H3 … H6:
As more and more people need agility to find what they are looking for, an optimization process has been deployed by them on web pages: the page content is first analyzed by its titles, then subheadings, lists and words in bold.

These tags indicate a hierarchy of headings and subheadings on your page, just like an index.

Each page must contain only one H1 tag and can have as many H2 to H6 as needed. This H1 should also be unique to the website and is the title of your page for search engines.

Let’s not confuse it with the “title” tag. H’s inform the hierarchy of the information on your page and the title of the page, in the understanding of the search engines, is the content of your H1. The “title” tag works as a display title in both the search and the page tab.

You may ask yourself, “Do they have to be related?”, And the answer is YES. The content of your entire should match those with titles. If you put a “title” meta tag indicating content other than H1 and the rest of the content on your page, Google may consider it a “black hat”, and punish your site for Induce the user to error. Since we all use Google because it assists us in the assertiveness of what we’re looking for, if it indicates wrong content we’d stop using it, so that’s not at all interesting to him, do not you think?

Having the keyword search in your h1 and some other “H” can also be a great competitive SEO differential.

4° – Friendly URL

As important as your domain and subdomain are the other parts of the URL. Using a user-friendly URL allows you to better place your site on your site.

Friendly URL exemple:
http://scriptcase.net/blog/category/design-and-ux/
http://scriptcase.com.br/blog/category/desenvolvimento/

By the way, Google takes that into account too.

5° – Alternative text for images:

It’s important to set the attribute of the img tag, the alt tag, on every image in your site. This attribute allows the browser to understand what the image is about, in addition to displaying this alternative text if it can not be loaded by any error, or even by a weak internet signal.

Search engine optimization consists of a set of small details that may be the difference between being in the first or second place in the ranking, or first or second page. So it’s best to always be aware of these rules.
