In PostgreSQL, inserting records in a table is made using the INSERT command, as in other DBMS.

Using the following syntax you can insert records in a table, it is very simple and intuitive to be learned:

INSERT INTO [Table] VALUES ([Values])

There is another possible use of syntax which are used the column names, as shown below:

INSERT INTO [Table] ([Columns]) VALUES ([Values])

As a practical example we will insert records in a table of products.

INSERT INTO product VALUES (‘Tv’, 20)

INSERT INTO product (Nome, Quantidade) VALUES (‘Computer’, 30)

In the examples shown above are the two ways to write records to a table shown above.
