In Sybase, as well as other DBMS that using SQL how language, the DELETE command is used to delete rows in a data table.

DELETE FROM [Table]

The syntax is very simple to be learned and used, but the DELETE command must be used very carefully. Once data is deleted they can only be recovered through backup and so it is very important to analyze and use. Let two examples.

DELETE FROM sales

DELETE FROM sales WHERE year < 2001

In the first example all records will be deleted from the table sales, in second example only records with the year below 2001 will be deleted. WHERE clause is eventually necessary to delete records, but even without it the DELETE command will work and because this is necessary to pay close attention to its implementation.
